Purpose & Background

The Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital Authority was created on March 1, 1961 with the deep desire by the residents of the City and County and leaders in the community to establish progressive health facilities that will provide quality, cost-effective patient care, educational programming, and promote health and wellness services to meet the needs of the people and communities it serves without regard to age, race, creed, color or ability to pay.

The "Authority"  is charged with the full responsibility of operating and maintaining the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, its affiliated sites. This includes establishing, revising, and reviewing policies for the betterment of the community and health system; and the organizational management of equipment and personnel.

The Hospital Authority is committed to continuously improving the delivery of healthcare services and the treatment of physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of patients, thus improving patient outcomes and the health, saftey, and welfare of the communities the Authority serves.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Membership Requirements

The Hospital Authority consist of nine (9) members who serve 4-year terms. Four (4) members are residents of the Glynn County; four (4) are residents of the City; and one (1) appointed jointly by the City and County. The governing body of the Hospital Authority is responsible for the official selection and appointment of new members. The City Commission only forwards three (3) nominations to fill vacancies as they occur.
