Brunswick Historic Preservation Board

Purpose & Background

The goal of the Historic Preservation Board is to establish procedures for processing applications for certificates of appropriateness for (1) any changes in the external appearance of existing structures; (2) design of new structures; (3) demolition of landmarks and existing structures within designated historic districts; and (4) protection and preservation of historic sites and features.

Membership Requirements

The board consists of seven members appointed by the city commission. All members shall be residents of the City of Brunswick and shall be persons who have demonstrated special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture or the preservation of historic resources. To the extent available in the city, at least three members shall be appointed from among professionals in the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, or related professions.
