Audit Committee

Purpose & Background

The primary function of the Audit Committee is to assist the City Commissioners in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities relating to the City's financial reporting, which includes oversight of:

  1. The integrity of the City's financial statements
  2. The City's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  3. The independent auditor's qualifications and independence
  4. The performance of the City's audit function and independent auditors

Membership Requirements

The Audit Committee is comprised of five members. The Mayor appoints a nominating committee consisting of the Mayor, one City Commissioner, the Finance Director, and Human Resources Director. The requirements to become a member of this committee include:

  1. Resident of the City of Brunswick, in good community standing.
  2. Demonstrated management skills.
  3. Financial, accounting, or governmental knowledge.
