***Important Notice About Your Property Tax Assessment***

City of Brunswick Residents Assessment Notice Update

If you are a property owner in Glynn County, you should have received your annual assessment notice this month. The assessment notices serve to notify the public of any change in the value of their property according to the Glynn County Assessor’s Office. The assessment value of a property determines the value of the ad valorem property taxes that property owner owes to their taxing authority or authorities.

If you live in the City of Brunswick, your annual assessment notice contains not only your estimated county taxes, but your city taxes as well.

This press release is to inform city residents that you may have received an assessment with an error in your city tax estimate. To calculate your city tax estimate, simply multiply the amount under “net taxable” by the millage rate (13.219) and divide by 1000. This is the value of your city ad-valorem taxes.

Net Taxable x 13.219 / 1000 = Estimated City Tax

Note also that stormwater fees were not included in the assessment notice. Per Municipal Code §22A-114 and §22A-115, Stormwater fees are billed to any parcel in the City of Brunswick that contains impermeable surfaces. Multi-family or commercial properties are billed at a rate of $54 per Equivalent Residential Units (ERU). A single-family residence is billed a stormwater fee of 1 ERU, resulting in a stormwater fee of $54 on their property taxes.
