Weather Update and General Information

Updated 11.10.2022 - 12:39pm

Tropical Storm Nicole is currently shifting NW at approximately 14 MPH and is likely to shift NNW in the late afternoon today. We can still expect to see around 2-4 inches of rainfall, which will increase the likelihood of minor flooding during high tides this morning and evening. Glynn County has been placed under a Tornado Watch until 1:00 this afternoon.

Remember the potential hazards of flooding and elevated wind speeds: -Power outages -Falleen trees/limbs -Impassable roads We have received several updates regarding closings; the Pier on Saint Simons Island, the Overlook Park on Glynn Avenue, and the Fishing Bridge Pier at Liberty Ship Park are all currently closed.

The Non-Emergency Customer Service line is open and can be reached at 912-554-7111. If you must travel somewhere by vehicle and encounter floodwater over the road: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. You can find other important information on the EMA Dashboard here:

Sandbags

Public works will have supplies to assemble your own sandbags at 204 Old Jesup Road on Wednesday, November the 9th from 8am-5pm. Sandbag supplies will be available for City residents who provide a valid I.D. with a Brunswick city address.

People in lower-lying areas should ensure they have the proper supplies they need to prevent major flooding damages to their property. We ask that those who received sandbags during Hurricane Ian continue to utilize those sandbags during Tropical Storm Nicole.

If you live in a flood-prone area, stay alert and watch for flooding. We will continue coordinating with Glynn County officials and other local agencies to provide you updates on Tropical Storm Nicole, please stay tuned for further updates.
