Biography
Lance Sabbe serves as Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Brunswick, providing leadership to the City Commission with a focus on transparent governance, strategic growth, and community-centered decision-making. In this role, he supports the Mayor, presides over meetings as needed, and works collaboratively with fellow commissioners to advance policies that strengthen quality of life, infrastructure, and economic opportunity for all residents.
Originally from southern Arizona, Mayor Pro Tem Sabbe earned a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Information Systems, providing a strong foundation for his career across both the private and public sectors. He made Brunswick his home in 2008 and has since built deep ties to the community through sustained civic involvement, nonprofit leadership, and public service.
Prior to holding elected office, Mayor Pro Tem Sabbe spent more than a decade as a partner at a regional marketing and design firm, where he supported local businesses through strategic communications and organizational leadership. He currently serves as Executive Director of Forward Brunswick, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to community revitalization, housing, and economic vitality. In this role, he leads collaborative initiatives that align public, private, and philanthropic partners to deliver tangible, long-term improvements for the city.
His civic service includes appointments to multiple local, regional, and national bodies. Mayor Pro Tem Sabbe serves on the Joint Water & Sewer Commission and the Coastal Regional Commission, and he represents Brunswick nationally through service with the National League of Cities, including the Small Cities Council and the Housing and Economic Development Committee.
He lives in downtown Brunswick with his wife, Kate, and their dog, Sampson. Mayor Pro Tem Sabbe is committed to thoughtful planning, fiscal responsibility, and collaborative leadership that positions Brunswick for a strong and inclusive future.
