Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. How do I start garbage pick up service?
Starting household garbage service is simple, just go to the first floor of the City Hall Complex at 601 Glouchester St., and sign up for water and sewer service. You must have water and sewer service to have garbage pick up, and if you have water and sewer service you must also have garbage pick up which is billed with your monthly water bill.
  2. No one is currently living at the address, and I want to keep my water running for maintenance purposes, but discontinue household garbage pick up, can I do this?
No. You must have garbage pick up if your water is still connected.
  3. I have moved to another location in the city, do I take my trash can with me?
No. When you discontinue your water and sewer service, and transfer to the new location you will be issued an new garbage can for that location.
  4. My garbage can was stolen, what do I need to do?
First call the Brunswick Police Dept at (912)267-5559, and report the can as being stolen. Next get a copy of the police report, and call the Public Works Dispatch at (912)267-3703, and a new garbage can will be issued to you.
  5. Where should I place yard trash?
Make sure yard trash is placed near the road, but not on the city streets, curbs or right-of-way. Placing trash too near the street is violation of the City of Brunswick municipal code.
  6. What can I do if I see illegal dumping in the city?
Report any violations to the City of Brunswick Dispatch at (912)267-3703.
