ENGINEERING

DEPARTMENT

The Engineering Department of the City of Brunswick is a multifaceted organization. We work with other Departments within the City of Brunswick to provide Engineering assistance with design and construction of City owned projects. We review proposals and construction plans submitted by Consultants for work on City Projects and projects for the general public. The Engineering Department consists of the City Engineer, an Engineering Technician and a GIS Technician. The City Engineer is also the Floodplain Manager and the FEMA Community Rating System CRS Coordinator.

The Building Inspection Division is under the supervision of the City Engineer. The Building Inspection Division consists of one Building Inspector.

A Development Review Team (DRT) is mandated by the City’s Storm Water Ordinance which includes the heads of, or representatives from, the other City Departments involved in the issuing of permits. Also included in this review process is a representative from the Brunswick / Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission and the Glynn County Environmental Health Department. All request for building permits, zoning variances, and conditional use applications are reviewed weekly by the Development Review Team; 503 Mansfield Street; P. O.
